Upholstery & Fabrics
We at DRYEX hold the certification of IICRC Master Textile Cleaner
What does that mean? That means we hold certifications as carpet cleaning technician, carpet repair and reinstallation technician, odor control technician, color repair technician and of course, upholstery and fabric cleaning technician. We have held this certification for over a decade and are confident to clean any textile! Don’t you deserve and want the security to know we are true experts in our field and as of this writing no one in Thurston county holds this credential but if they earn it we will always have more experience as such since we were the first.
Pricing of upholstery involves answering a a few fundamental question and do not worry if you do not know the answers. We will answer them upon pre-qualifying the work before we lift a tool. Pricing is determined simply by the labor and liability we take on!
So please tell us the following:
- Is the upholstery natural or synthetic fiber? For the sake of brevity let us choose a three person sofa because we price based on the number of “positions”, not linear feet or some other technic. A love seat has of course two positions. If it is cotton, rayon, wool or some other natural fiber it is a greater liability challenge for us and we factor that into the estimate and/or proposal. We can usually provide an accurate (within ten percent of the actual cost.) over-the-phone estimate.
- Does the piece have a “dust ruffle” around the base? If so, more labor.
- Are the cushions attached or detached? Attached is a two sided cushion versus six sides per cushion if detached which means more labor.
- Is the sofa “overstuffed” or regular sized? If regular sized that is less labor.
Some liabilities involved include color fastness, microfiber delamination and cotton yellowing. Pet hair accumulation adds the the cost. Urine contamination although very correctable equals more labor and liability. Remember, urine must be removed and rendered inert. There is no “magic bullet” spray-on deodorizer that simply masks the malodor.
The typical range could be as low as $35 per position or as great as $75 per position. Protecting the fabric with Teflon is 35% of gross cost. We do not require a decision until the job is done just like carpet and is done once you assess the results.
A word about tags. There are four: W means it is safe to clean with water and not that it must be cleaned with water. S stands for solvent or it is safe to clean with solvent. WS means both are safe and X means vacuum only. Do not focus on this tag however. Almost always we use a low moisture hot water extraction (HWE) tool to do our cleaning because to invest in solvent cleaning is rare, expensive and the results can easily disappoint. Plus, do you want solvent-petroleum based chemicals introduced into your home that are so toxic that the technician must don personal protective equipment (PPE)?
The bottom line is we are well trained, equipped and certified to accomplish the task to your satisfaction.
Lastly, you likely will receive a reduced price if you have other tasks done the same day such as carpet or tile cleaning.
Please call us for an over the phone estimate expecting these questions to be asked. See the photograph at right to see the potential results we can deliver! Remember, we guarantee our work to be second to none. If we fail to please you let us know. After a second attempt if you are not satisfied we invite you to find whomever you wish and if they can correct your problem that we could not we will pay their bill!
The photo at right shows upholstery with many years of neglect and nicotine contamination that looked new and smelled fresh upon completion. Speaking of odors we can remove urine even in leather. Reupholstering is very expensive so let us try to clean it to like new for hundreds of dollars less. If we think we cannot we can refer you to a great upholstery shop as well.
